One of the things I often get asked is, ”How do I know if I am doing the right thing?” And it is so familiar, we all have this deep desire to do the right things, the good things- the ones that will take us to the right places in our lives and yield maximum benefit for us in whatever way it may be. Usually it is about growth and fulfilment, be it emotional, practical, financial or in any other area.
We want to make those decisions that take us to those steps that will somehow lead us to the pinnacle of our lives.
This is understandable for those big life decisions such as career, relationships, health and so on.
The funny thing is that we react in exactly the same way, to decisions of a far lesser magnitude, such as which car to buy or choosing the right venue to celebrate our birthday party…
We have been brought up with the fear of God in us, of doing anything wrong, or anything that may delay us on our path of growth towards the goals we have in mind.

Now once upon a time, there might have been a certain likelihood that the right choice of education for instance would lead, if not to a guaranteed income and lifestyle, then at least it would form the foundation that would serve as your entrance ticket to a range of opportunities and choices.
That is very clearly no longer how it works.
In the New Energy, we saw the link between cause -> effect
become blurred. Those actions that used to be almost certain to lead to a desired outcome, started leading to all manner of different developments, meaning that the original desired outcome or goal would fall by the wayside.
This period was all about helping us to transform the way we used energy as a means of control. Looking back, it was at times very manipulative, in the sense that we would invest all our willpower to reach our personal goals, without worrying much about how it would affect others or whether this was actually the best outcome, in terms of the Greater Good. In a very competitive school environment for instance, it was (and still is) each to his own, as every student worries much more about being the best and scoring the highest grades, than for instance helping each other to ensure everyone gets through at a reasonable level.
So, the New Energy, messed up our ideas of control and the effect of applying willpower.
It changed our ability to concentrate, made us more sensitive and less able to force certain outcomes without becoming sick or in some other way distracted, delayed and stopped in our tracks.
The New Energy even threw in a few wild cards, ensuring complete unpredictability of events, so managing to confuse and unsettle those convictions and values which we had carved in stone, convinced they were too safe and reliable to question (look at the financial institutions for instance).
And now we are uncertain. We still have the idea that we must make the right decisions, because taking a wrong step could lead to all kinds of disasters. Yet we also sense that life is considerably less predictable than before. Often the result is stagnation. We don’t know what to do, so we stay in that uncertainty, taking 2 steps forward, and 3 steps back. It is not a comfortable place to be and more importantly, it doesn’t lead us anywhere!
So now that we are moving out of the New Energy and into the Natural Energy. What is this about? What can we expect now? How does it work?
Well, that is what we are beginning to find out. And there is only one way to move forward in the New Energy- be open and experiment.
Seriously! Just try something and see what happens.
If there is one thing the Natural Energy will not accept, it is unnatural behaviour. Examples of ‘unnatural’ behaviour are:
- resisting what is and therefore stagnating
- not being in the present, but insisting to stay in the past
- being dishonest or trying to be something that is not in line with your Soul
- misusing your Power, manipulating, energy-feeding, abusing.
And this is where Nature itself is such a beautiful example. Nature never stands still- the seasons keep coming and going, creatures are born and die again, day and night follow one another. It keeps happening, whether we agree or not. We have been told often enough to ‘Go with the flow’ and that is so much more difficult than it sounds, nevertheless, that is what the Natural Energy is asking of us. More than ever, “Resistance is futile!”
Willpower and determination will simply not take you anywhere that is unnatural to your Energy, or in other words, you will not go somewhere you are not supposed to be.
Now, if you take this as a guarantee that you will never again encounter difficulties or wonder what on Earth is happening in your life, please think again. Quite likely, you will find yourself in situations where you think,
“You see!! That was a mistake. It was the wrong choice!”
If that happens, stop and feel what brings those thoughts to your mind.
The concepts of right and wrong are fear-based. They are based on our old conviction that there are 2 camps of Energy- Positive and Negative. While walking the balance between the 2 these past millennia, there has been a constant threat that, by making a mistake, we could fall of the tightrope and plunge into the depths of negative energy, never to be saved again.
So: It is time for us to let go of that duality, because it is not in line with the Natural Energy.
It will take some getting used to, but right and wrong no longer exist.
Whatever decision you made, helped to keep you moving, to flow, and it took you to your next destination. That could never be wrong.
Then, if the place you are in does not feel good, then you make your next decision which will help you further again. And whatever you have learned, stays with you. This is how Natural growth works. No need to beat yourself up or regret what you did.
When asked the question, “How do I know if I am doing the right thing?” my answer is therefore:
“You don’t. You just feel into the options. You choose what feels best at the moment. You try it and see what happens. Because that is the only thing you ever can do. But make the choice and do something.
Go get yourself into that Flow and it will always take you to the next step on your Path.”
